Lindsay Wildlife Museum, located in Walnut Creek, features up-close and personal experiences live, native California wildlife. The museum also has a wildlife hospital that treats about 6,000 native animals every year, and provides information to help all of us learn to live with all the wonderful birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians in our back yards.

Additional information can be found many places. Beginners should subscribe to at least one of the national beekeeping magazines. These include:

Bee Culture, A.I. Root Co., P.O. Box 706, Medina, OH 44258, ph 1-800-289-7668 x 3220, fax 330-725-5624. www.beeculture.com.

American Bee Journal, 51 S. 2nd St., Hamilton, IL 62341, ph 217-847-3324, fax 217-847-3660. Also see http://www.dadant.com/.

The Speedy Bee, P.O. Box 998, Jesup, GA 31598--0998, Ph 912-427-4018, fax 912-427-8447.

In addition, it is suggested beginners find the bee inspector and state university extension educator in their state.  Each year, Bee Culture publishes a comprehensive list in the April edition.  This is  found at http://www.beeculture.com/content/whoswho/.

Finally, all beekeepers should become members of their local, state and national beekeeping association.  The most active national association is the American Beekeeping Federation:  http://www.abfnet.org/
